Automotive Research

One of the things I do in my spare time is build optimized websites to either earn money through advertising, or to just experiment with various SEO strategies and techniques. Money I make typically goes back into my online endeavors to get better domains, additional content, or exposure.

In 2007 I put a lot of my earnings into a premium domain name relating to car dealerships. The domain's site has launched, though it is not completed yet. Beyond the obvious (making money off of it) I am excited to see results begin pouring in. As an SEO consultant who specializes in the auto industry, the analytical information is valuable. The site targets regional terms (all regions, nationwide) along with specific makes and dealerships, allowing for traffic from a variety of keyphrases.

I will be, eventually, posting some data on this page (so bookmark it!). This should help dealers understand what terms to target to generate traffic for their sites. Some are obvious, like the franchise you sell along with the city you serve, but I have already seen traffic from phrases typically not targeted by dealers. Since it's early I don't want to jump to any conclusions. When the site is complete, and I've had a chance to get some additional links to it, I will share at least some of the traffic stats for consideration and discussion.
